Cornerstone – Renovation Project
Client – Methodist Retirement Communities
Cornerstone is an existing senior living community that was in dire need of IL renovation. The Owner mentioned that it had likely not been updated since opening in the 1980s. The existing IL building was built around a three-story atrium that was rebranded into a more hospitality style space. Every resident apartment wing corridor was renovated with new finishes and lighting. Amenity spaces were heavily renovated and, in some cases, repurposed. The existing private dining room was relocated, and the vacated space knocked open to create a new Bistro to give residents and staff more dining choices over longer operating hours. This Bistro was strategically positioned next to the existing main kitchen for more robust menu choices. The existing snack bar was turned inside out by removing the high fixed counters to create a new residential kitchen that was open along the main corridor for a variety of resident uses. A new rehab gymnasium was added in the Skilled Nursing wing.
