Parkway Place – Repositioning Project
Client – Buckner Retirement Services
Parkway Place is a beautiful senior living community in west Houston. Originally opened in 1998, Parkway Place was in need of repositioning to better provide for its existing residents and appeal to new ones. D2 had worked previously on this campus to add a new Wellness Center and senior-friendly indoor pool.
D2 was hired again to work with the Owner and the Community to develop at strategic plan that resulted in a program for phased renovations of the community. This included extensive renovations to the IL commons clubhouse, IL apartment corridors, the Assisted Living wing, the Memory Support building and the Skilled Nursing pods. The Skilled Nursing pods were renovated to convert most existing semi-private units into private units and add private showers to each of these units. The Memory Support building was updated with new finishes and lighting, a refreshed Country Kitchen and individually colored unit doors to assist residents with way-finding.
The project included the relocation of an earlier Bistro addition that was under-utilized in the Wellness Addition to a multi-purpose space that was called the Cabana and overlooked the outdoor pool. This area was expanded with an addition and repurposed inside with a new, full service Bistro to offer the residents more dining choices and longer operating hours.
Spellman Brady reinvented the style of the entire community to make it more contemporary and yet still comfortable and familiar.
