Story
Élan Southpark Meadows is a new Assisted Living and Memory Support community located in a quaint South Austin neighborhood. Through carefully designed surroundings and services guided by compassion and respect, residents and guests will consistently experience unique and varied opportunities for personal happiness and growth while enjoying the comfort and sense of safety that comes with a true community.
Several unique elements were incorporated to differentiate this community from other senior living communities and although the basis of the floor plan is prototypical for the developer, many modifications were made allowing the community to blend into its surroundings and complement the adjacent single family neighborhood development. The team began its effort two years ahead of opening by engaging, not only with community leaders, but professional and thought leaders in addition to perspective residents and their families. A critical design goal of Élan Southpark Meadows was to make it a clear and recognizable embodiment of the Austin culture. The Team received invaluable feedback from the community and integrated that into the design. In their goal to reflect the area’s deep connection to the Texas Hill Country, the design team used locally sourced building materials, artwork, and other elements to create a new yet familiar environment.
The substantial porte cochere offers a dramatic entrance and facilitates relaxed tandem entry and exit without inducing congestion. Stepping into the cozy reception area, residents are embraced by the modern Hill Country, with interior finishes that are funky and colorful, tapping into the Austin vibe. The reception is also a gathering area for the fine restaurant dining room and bistro, as well as the home to a full conference room available to the community at-large. This serves as an opportunity to establish ties with neighboring businesses and residents. The interior areas are enveloped with daylight as amenity spaces are wrapped around the community’s lushly landscaped courtyards.
The Assisted Living residences are a mix of alcoves, one-, and two-bedroom apartments with private bathrooms and kitchenettes. Memory Support residences are divided into two households, consisting of 15 and 17 private suites and one semi-private suite. Each household contains an activity room, as well as a country kitchen that opens to an inviting dining room.
Through the tireless efforts of the owner, operator, design and construction team, the project passed the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (TDADS) on first inspection without deficiencies and received its license, opening to serve the Austin community.
